  entry requirements

Acceptance for study at West London College does not necessarily require, on the part of the student, any previous knowledge of the subjects to be studied. However, prospective students should have successfully completed a high school education equivalent to GCSE level and have reached a comensurate level of literacy and numeracy. Educational certificates held by international students will vary from country to country but the College Registry has considerable experience of assessing these.

Tuition is in English and so international students must therefore have reached a reasonable level of fluency. The level of English Language required for admission varies from course to course (please see below) but is never less that IELTS 5.5. Where an applicant does not have the required level, the College is able to offer English language training in advance of the main course of study.

Pre-BBA - Diploma in Business Studies

The requirements for this course are:

  • High School Certificate or equivalent
  • For overseas students, a Secure English Language Test (SELT) score of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent

Pre-MBA - ABE Advanced Diploma in Business Administration

The requirements for this course are:

  • A relevant HND or non-relevant degree
  • For overseas students, a Secure English Language Test (SELT) score of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent

Heriot-Watt University Bachelor's in Business Administration (BBA)

The requirements for this course are:

Please note: Advanced entry may be granted to holders of existing business qualifications. For example, holders of a relevant HND or the ABE Advanced Diploma in Business Administration may be admitted directly to Semester 3 (Year 2).

  • An appropriate secondary education equivalent to A levels plus O-level English Language (or equivalent, or IELTS 6 with a score of 6 for Writing), or the West London College Diploma in Business Studies.
  • Year 2 entry: HND, ABE Advanced Diploma or equivalent.

Heriot-Watt University Bachelor's Degree in Business & Finance (BA)

The requirements for this course are:

Please note: Advanced entry may be granted to holders of existing business qualifications. For example, holders of relevant HNDs or the ABE Advanced Diploma in Business Administration may be admitted directly to Level 3 (Year 2).

  • An appropriate secondary education equivalent to Alevels plus O-level English Language (or equivalent, or IELTS 6 with a score of 6 for Writing), or the West London College Diploma in Business Studies.
  • Year 2 entry: HND, ABE Advanced Diploma or equivalent

Heriot-Watt University Master's in Business Administration (MBA)

The requirements for this course are:

  • Relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional qualification (such as CIMA, ACCA or CIM).
  • For overseas students, a Secure English Language Test (SELT) score of IELTS 6 or equivalent
  • Graduates of non-relevant disciplines must first take the 'pre-MBA' foundation course before embarking on the MBA programme.

Heriot-Watt University Master's Degree in Marketing (MSc)

The requirements for this course are:

  • Any Bachelor's degree or relevant professional qualification (such as CIM)
  • For overseas students, a Secure English Language Test (SELT) score of IELTS 6 or equivalent
  • Level 2/3 entry: Subject to individual application

Heriot-Watt University Master's Degree in Financial Management (MSc)

The requirements for this course are:

  • Relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional qualification (such as CIMA or ACCA)
  • For overseas students, a Secure English Language Test (SELT) score of IELTS 6 or equivalent

Certificate / Higher Certificate in Business

The requirements for this course are:

  • Students should have completed at least high school level although most students are currently studying at university or working full time
  • For overseas students, a Secure English Language Test (SELT) score of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent

British Computer Society (BCS) Diploma in Information Technology

The requirements for this course are:

  • High School Certificate or equivalent
  • For overseas students, a Secure English Language Test (SELT) score of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
  • NB. Credit entry is available direct into year 2 for holders of the BCS Certificate in IT or equivilent (HNC, NCC, ACP, ABE, IMIS etc)

University of Greenwich BSc. (Hons) in Computing (Final Year)

The requirements for this course are:

  • BCS Diploma in IT or equivalent (IMIS Higher Diploma, NCC Advanced Diploma, ACP Advanced Diploma, ABE Advanced Diploma in Business Information Systems, HND in Computing, etc)
  • For overseas students, a Secure English Language Test (SELT) score of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent

CTH Advanced Diploma in Hotel Management

The requirements for this course are:

  • High School Certificate or equivalent
  • For overseas students, a Secure English Language Test (SELT) score of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
  • NB. Credit entry is available direct into year 2 for holders of the CTH Diploma or HNC or equivalent

Bournemouth University Bachelor's Degree in International Hospitality & Tourism Management

The requirements for this course are:

  • CTH Advanced Diploma in Hotel Management (normally a merit profile) and IELTS 6 (academic) or equivalent

CTH Advanced Diploma in Tourism Management

The requirements for this course are:

  • High School Certificate or equivalent
  • For overseas students, a Secure English Language Test (SELT) score of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
  • NB. Credit entry is available direct into year 2 for holders of the CTH Diploma or HNC or equivalent

Bournemouth University Bachelor's Degree in International Hospitality & Tourism Management

The requirements for this course are:

  • CTH Advanced Diploma in Tourism Management (normally a merit profile) and IELTS 6 (academic) or equivalent

Foundation Diploma in Fashion Design

The requirements for this course are:

  • High School Certificate or equivalent and some artistic ability
  • For overseas students, a Secure English Language Test (SELT) score of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
